Principal's Message

Welcome to Henry Larsen Elementary School!

Henry Larsen is home to approximately 340 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. We offer programs in Early French Immersion (K-8), Middle French Immersion (grades 6-8) and English (grades 6-8). We are located in a growing, safe and welcoming neighborhood. Some of our students come to us in grade 6 from Convent Glen Elementary School and Forest Valley Elementary School (depending on the student’s home address).

At Henry Larsen you will find a lovely community of dedicated and friendly staff, students and parents/guardians working  together towards common goals – academic excellence, social and emotional development, and positive attitudes. Our students are encouraged to become life-long learners, and healthy and actively responsible community members. We work alongside community organizations such as the Orleans Cumberland Community Resource Centre and the Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families.

Our amazing school is a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. We establish a culture of high expectations for our students at the beginning of the year, setting goals and success criteria. We monitor and review these goals (academic, wellbeing, social, behavioural) throughout the year. Our award winning sports and music programs are known through the District to enrich your child’s school experience.

Henry Larsen staff are dedicated in their efforts to offer an innovative and globally aware program that both challenges and supports students’ academic and personal goals. With a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and equity, educators pursue professional development opportunities to deliver the best programs possible for all of our students. Students at Henry Larsen are engaged in their learning and are excited to participate in the variety of extra-curricular experiences that are offered.

At Henry Larsen, we value our supportive and involved parent/guardian community and we welcome volunteers! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer as a community member who is not a parent or guardian, please visit the Ottawa Network For Education website to find out how you can apply to be a volunteer at our school.

We are proud of our students and educators at Henry Larsen and are excited to welcome you!

Sincerely,

Amanda Pruner

Principal
