On Thursday, February 20th, the school will be having a Hydro Ottawa Electricity Safety presentation for all students and staff.
Electricity Safety & Conservation is providing this presentation. This organization has been offering electrical electrical safety presentations to elementary school students for more than three decades.
Utilizing various teaching methods these presentations deal with electrical safety and conservation in the school and home, and outdoors around utility poles, towers and substations.
The presentation schedule will be as follows:
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. — Grades 4 - 8
11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. — Grades JK - 3
The students in grades JK-3 meet ‘Wires’ the safety puppet and learn 15-20 safety and conservation messages that they are able to take home to their parents and caregivers.
The grade 4-8 presentation examines electrical safety and conservation issues in more detail. We talk about electrical hazards in the home, the dangers within electrical substations, and what to do if they are in a car accident involving a utility pole and power line.

We're looking forward to learning more about Electricity Safety!
